Planet needs more carbon dioxide
In reading recent articles by Karen Briere the in The Western Producer, a fine weekly, I feel impelled to respond to her articles as well as the delay in Bill C-234.
I have worked in agro-climatology since 1975, 24 of those years with the Canadian Wheat Board’s weather and crops surveillance and planning departments, and subsequently as a consultant-research scientist, and am well qualified to comment on the theory of human-induced global warming.
I have published on the subject as well as having read about 15 books on the subject.

Proactive approach best bet with looming catastrophes
The Pan-Canadian Action Plan on African swine fever has been developed to avoid the worst case scenario — a total loss ofmarket access.
I have got to the point that when I read an article and notice words such as “emissions” and the “greenhouse gas effect,” I almost immediately conclude that the writer has not done his or her homework.
The word “emissions” is typically used to describe carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels. There are two well-documented facts that few politicians and people are aware of or chose to ignore:
- Carbon dioxide is first and foremost a plant food used in photosynthesis.
- Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant.
Also, so frequently, reference is made to the greenhouse effect, which is a myth as described in Chapter 4 of the 2014 book entitled About Face — Why the World Needs More Carbon Dioxide — The Failed Science of Global Warming, authored by A.M. Hughes, M.L. Khandekar and C.Ollier.
Two other books that support my assertions are Heaven and Earth — global warming the missing science, written by geologist Ian Plimer in 2009, and Green Murder — A life sentence of net zero with no parole, also written by Ian Plimer, in 2021.
I rest my case and support a speedy passage of Bill C-234.
