Just why do Stephen Harper and Gerry Ritz have such an obsession to kill the single desk selling of grain through the Canadian Wheat Board? If single desk selling is good for the potash business, why is it bad for grain growers?
Some things we have to accept without choice. If we all wanted to choose to obey or disregard traffic lights there would be chaos.
Pierre Trudeau arrogantly asked, “Why should I sell your wheat?” and then the Liberals killed the Crow. With that we had rural cleansing and community life suffered. And surprise, surprise, Liberals in the West are about as scarce as hens’ teeth.
If Stephen Harper wants to walk all over us without giving us a straightforward unconvoluted plebiscite about getting rid of the Canadian Wheat Board he will do so at his peril.
Anyone who disregards history will be doomed to repeat it.
