You might check your crops by driving your pick-up truck or your ATV to the field, or by simply taking a walk. But checking crops using a snowmobile?
It was a first for Gerald Finster of Valleyview, Alta., who sent the photos shown here, taken May 22 by his daughter, Crystal. The May long weekend brought about 20 centimetres of wet snow to the Peace region, northwest of Edmonton, along with about 50 mm of rain. Finster seeded his wheat April 23 and on May 22 wanted to see how the crop was faring under its unseasonal snow cover. As you can see here, it seems to be doing all right.
