Cat management

Your newspaper has lovely nature photos.

Last summer I changed my cat management to the benefit of songbirds. I am a farmer and I need cats for mouse management. My traditional cat management included having dry cat food available in my house and outside. This management gives dry cat food for the cats in times of no mice, so they will stay healthy.

Cats prefer to eat mice. The cats had the run of the farm and were allowed in the house and outside as they wished. Their bird predation was depressing, so I changed my cat management. I removed the cat food from outside and only let the cats out at night. There were incidents of “dash through the door.” The ability to do this faster than a cat does not exist. So to avoid the squashing of a cat in the door, I used the back door. The cats seemed willing to come in the house in the morning, partly for food and partly because they feel safer when they sleep in the house.

Agriculture needs to prepare for government spending cuts

As government makes necessary cuts to spending, what can be reduced or restructured in the budgets for agriculture?

The cats reconciled to the idea after a while and bird predation went way down.

On another side of cat management, farmers are called on the carpet to answer allegations of animal abuse on their farms. Animal abuse happens in the city too. Can a cat kept in a bachelor apartment be having a good time? Frequently they are neurotic. The same happens with dogs in houses. Cats are having good times when they catch mice. A functionless animal is not a partner with humanity anymore.
