The University of Alberta is receiving $284,000 from the Western Grains Research Foundation to increase infrastructure capacity at its Breton Plots.

Operating for 90 years, the Breton Plots are one of longest running crop rotation trials in North America and continues to help answer important scientific and agronomic questions.

The funding will be used to buy a plot combine and front-wheel assist tractor and build equipment storage that complement existing infrastructure and increase capacity.

The research foundation will make additional capacity funding announcements next year.
