Shows continue on Day 4 of Agribition

REGINA — Purebred cattle shows continued at Canadian Western Agribition Thursday with the large Black and Red Angus and Limousin events.

Topping the Black Angus show on the female side was Blairswest Erica 77J, with calf at side, exhibited by Rainbow Red Angus from Cherhill, Alta. The reserve was Greenwood Beauty JJP 58H, with calf at side, from Jayden and Jaxon Payne of Lloydminster, Sask., and Greenwood Cattle and Blue Hills Livestock.

The Payne brothers also showed the grand champion bull, Greenwood Four Mile 47J, co-owned with Greenwood Cattle and Ter-Ron Farms. The reserve was DMM Rollin’ North 62J from Miller Wilson Angus of Bashaw, Alta., and Freeway Angus and ARDA Farms.

The grand champion Red Angus female, Red Six Mile Ms Frado 344J, came from Harvie Crest Cattle at Olds, Alta., and Six Mile Red Angus. The reserve was Red Six Mile GGA Ms Frado 90K from Breed Creek Ranch at Mankota, Sask., Six Mile Red Angus, Glen Gabel and Jackson Bragg.

On the bull side, Red Double B Red Watch 129 from Double B Angus at McLean, Sask., topped the show, while Red Wilbar Hennessy 3K from Wilbar Cattle Co. at Dundurn, Sask., and Rohrich Cutting Edge was the reserve.

The Limousin grand champion female was RPY Paynes Kassidy 144K ET, exhibited by Eden Meadows Farm from Zehner, Sask., and Hardrock Land and Cattle.

Royal Beef Genetics from Starbuck, Minnesota, showed the reserve, Royal Lana RBGL 304L ET.

B-Bar Rainmaker 4K from B Bar Cattle at Lucky Lake, Sask., Canadian Sires and Bohrson Marketing was the grand champion bull.

The reserve was Royal Knight RBGL 204K, exhibited by Royal Beef Genetics and Wulf Cattle.

The sheep shows also began Thursday with the commercial and market classes.

The top single commercial ewe was a yearling from Big Rose Farms at Biggar, Sask., and the reserve was PK-060 from Cool Ally Livestock at Tompkins, Sask.

Ward Suffolks from Saltcoats, Sask., showed the top market lamb. The reserve was from FX5 Livestock at Melfort, Sask.

Today the purebred sheep shows are on tap, as are the Polled and Horned Hereford, Charolais, Shorthorn and commercial cattle shows.

Agribition concludes Saturday with the Junior Beef Extreme, commercial sale, sheep sale and the Beef Supreme.
