Ten Saskatchewan short-line railways will match provincial government grants announced last week, pumping a total of $1.4 million into the network. The eligible lines and the amounts they are receiving are:
• Southern Rails Co-operative, based in Avonlea, $40,000;
• Carlton Trail Railway, Prince Albert, $81,778;
• Red Coat Road and Rail, Viceroy, $51,111;
• Great Western Railway, Shaunavon, $220,445;
• Thunder Rail, Arborfield, $40,000;
• Wheatland Rail, Cudworth, $40,000;
• Fife Lake Railway, Coronach, $43,111;
• Torch River Rail, Choiceland, $40,000;
• Great Sandhills Railway, Leader, $83,111;
• Last Mountain Railway, Regina, $60,444.
There are 11 shortlines in the province. They are eligible for the grant after operating for at least a year.
