The Saskatchewan government has asked for an AgriRecovery assessment due to drought.
The assessment will determine what help livestock producers could receive.
“Many producers across Saskatchewan are facing extraordinary costs to ensure their animals are taken care of,” said agriculture minister David Marit.

The province also sent a letter to the federal government July 17 asking for an early designation of the federal livestock tax deferral program.
The requests come after the province already introduced crop insurance and crown grazing rental rate changes to help livestock producers secure feed.
Crop insurance participants whose cereal and pulse crops are appraised at or below the low-yield threshold can convert those for grazing, baling or silaging. They should first contact the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corp. for an appraisal.
