Saskatchewan Wheat Pool will hold a second annual meeting in 2003, this one on Dec. 11 and 12.
Class B shareholders and delegates last met in February, a meeting that had been delayed by the grain company’s restructuring efforts.
Colleen Vancha, the pool’s vice-president of communications and investor relations, said the December date will become the norm.
“From our point of view December is a better time frame,” she said.
“We know by then what the crop looks like and that’s what drives our handling and marketing for the full year.”

More factors affecting winter weather
When you combine a weak La Niña, early Siberian snow, and a warm northern Pacific, it’s easy to see why long-range winter forecasting is so complex.
The annual meeting date is governed by securities regulations, which require that it be completed before first quarter financial results are released.
It is also driven by the fourth quarter results. Vancha said it takes six to eight weeks after the results are known to produce the annual report for the meeting.
Sask Pool was scheduled to release its year-end results Oct. 22.
Delegates will then gather Oct. 30 for a regional meeting in Saskatoon, where they will go over the results.
The company used to meet in mid-November. At one time, the meeting lasted two weeks.
Now, the Class B shareholder meeting is held in the morning, with the delegates’ meeting following for the next day and a half.
