Saskatoon lawyer and accountant Casey Davis has bought Saskatchewan-based farm equipment manufacturer Morris Industries.
Owner Wendy Morris sold the 78-year-old, family-owned equipment maker effective June 7.
Davis said despite tough times in prairie agriculture over the past two decades, he feels optimistic about the potential of his newly acquired business.
Morris Industries Ltd. includes two manufacturing plants, in Yorkton, Sask., and Minnedosa, Man., two retail equipment dealerships at Yorkton and Virden, Man., and the head office and marketing centre in Saskatoon.
The company has been expanding in Russia, Europe, Australia and South Africa.
Davis is a former chief executive officer and president of the Morris board of directors.
