A Saskatchewan farmer waited more than five months to claim a $2 million lottery prize, saying he was too busy farming to drive to the lottery office in Regina.

Larry Greenbank of Kelso in southeastern Saskatchewan, matched all six numbers in the Lotto 6/49 draw held April 5.

He then put the ticket in a safety deposit box, where it stayed until he claimed his prize Sept. 19.

“Spring is a busy time,” the 55 year old said in a News release

news. “First seeding, then spraying, then haying and now it’s harvest time. I farm by myself so it’s very difficult for me to get away. But now that harvest is over and the weather is kind of damp, today was the best day for me to come in and claim my winnings.”

Greenbank declined an interview with the Western Producer, but he did say in the News release

news that he expects the win will make life more comfortable and help with farming.

He purchased his ticket at the Moosomin Shell gas station.
