Saskatchewan politicians will head back to work in the legislative assembly March 9.
Premier Roy Romanow said the throne speech will outline a session that focuses on “investing in people” and the priorities of jobs, education, health care, fundamental welfare reform, transportation and justice.
“Agriculture is very high on the agenda,” he said, especially the transportation aspect of the industry.
Romanow did not promise tax cuts, saying although the province has turned the corner on its fiscal challenges the government still needs to be prudent. The budget will be announced March 19.
The premier said he expects about 85 pieces of legislation to be brought forward by the government.
