Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers has launched Ritchie List, an equipment-listing service that allows sellers to list the equipment themselves through the company’s site.
At a webinar, Matt Ackley, chief marketing officer for Ritchie Bros., said of the company’s three equipment listing services, Ritchie List offers sellers the most autonomy over what they are selling.
“Many folks out there sell equipment on their own, they’ve got the resources and expertise to make this happen,” Ackley said. “We felt that we could bring our years of demand generating expertise to this particular dilemma, and therefore launch Ritchie List under the Ritchie brand, to help folks who we know have the resources, have the time and have the ability to sell equipment on their own.”

Drought conditions in northwestern Manitoba have forced researchers at the Parkland Crop Diversification Foundation to terminate some projects and reseed others.
Other than Ritchie List, Ritchie Bros. has Ritchie Bros. auctions and Iron Planet auctions, where it sells all the items, and the price isn’t set by the sellers, but by global buyer demand.
The company also has Marketplace-E, an online marketplace where the price is set based on market data.
In comparison, Ritchie List is a self-serve listing service. People who use Ritchie List set their own prices and make the connections for the sale themselves.
Ackley said producers can move their products from one service to another if they wish.
“If you want to list it on Richie List for time being, but you want to, after a while, push it into to some of the other channels, that’s easy to do with a click of a button.”
Ritchie Bros. also offers inspection services for those wanting to use Ritchie List or who may just need an inspection.
