WINNIPEG (Staff) – Policy resolutions passed at the recent annual meeting indicate what areas Keystone Agricultural Producers will press for in the coming year. Apart from the sustainable development resolutions, here’s a glance at a few of the things KAP will be lobbying for:
- Standardized protein testing.
- Interest on National Income Stabilization Account deposits and withdrawals to start from the day the forms are received in the often-backlogged NISA office.
- A distinct category for Grandin wheat.
- Access to U.S. markets for sugar beet producers.
- Changed regulations so farmers can operate wild game farms.
- Improved highways and roads for grain transportation, in light of the end of the rail subsidies.
- Hail spot loss to be reinstated as a Manitoba Crop Insurance Corporation option.
- Polish and Argentine canola varieties to be treated as separate commodities by Manitoba Crop Insurance Corporation.
