I want to clarify the statements made by Roy Nelson of Regina in the Nov. 4 Open Forum. Mr. Nelson claims that in a letter I wrote in the Oct. 7 issue, I erred in the percentage of Canadians that are in favour of scrapping the long gun registry.
He states that an Ipsos-Reid poll Sept. 27 to Oct. 4 showed that 66 percent of Canadians are in favour of keeping the registry. In fact, the Ipsos-Reid website shows that the poll was released Oct. 6.
Anyone who has sent a letter to the editor of theWPknows that it can take two to three weeks before the text appears in the paper. How could I have known about a poll that had not yet taken place?

I was using an on-line poll taken by CBC on Sept. 22 that showed the following results. When asked “should Canada keep the long gun registry,” 12,148 participants answered as follows: no, 69.23 percent; yes, 29.52 percent; not sure, 1.25 percent. …
As for my condemning the Canadian flag, that is not true. I don’t like that fact that it looks like the logo of the Liberal Party of Canada.
Other than that, it’s OK.
