It was a busy weekend for WP photographer William DeKay, who attended the 2014 PBR Canadian Finals in Saskatoon, Nov. 14-15.  Thirty-five of Canada’s best professional bull riders, including some of the top riders in the world, competed for this year’s title and money.

One of the event highlights was Aaron Roy’s amazing comeback. In his first bull riding competition since breaking his back during the Calgary Stampede in 2013, Roy, from Yellowgrass, Sask., was named PBR Canadian Finals Champion. “One of the greatest accolades, he is one of the nicest people in the world,” the announcer said of Roy during his winning ride. Definitely a crowd favourite.
During the second night of competition, Roy gritted out 85.5 points on Country Junkie during round one. In round two he had a rank ride on Trendon for a top score of 90.
Roy’s winnings totaled $12,040.
