A new company has been created to work with farmers and agri-businesses wanting to use more geotechnology.
Agri-Trend Geo Solutions Inc., based in Calgary, is a collaboration between Agri-Trend Inc. and GeoFarm Solutions Inc.
The firm has set up a network of advisers to offer technical support to farmers, other Agri-Trend companies and agricultural companies and retailers that want to use precision farming technologies in their operations.
That includes global positioning systems, geographic information systems and variable rate technology.
“By taking high quality tech products, strategic processes and motivated geo-coach specialists, we find the best way to identify, treat and prescribe solutions for managing in-field variability that make economic sense,” Warren Bills, president of the new company, said in a news release.

Russian wheat exports start to pick up the pace
Russia has had a slow start for its 2025-26 wheat export program, but the pace is starting to pick up and that is a bearish factor for prices.
The new company will result in several initiatives:
- Putting more advisers in the field to work with farmers and businesses;
- Providing three levels of high resolution aerial imagery and satellite imagery, along with a low resolution satellite imagery option;
- A drainage management program and technologies designed to help farmers determine yield-limiting factors in their fields;
- Better on-line tools to assist in data management.
Bills said the company’s coaches will team up with professional agrologists to improve the integration of technology with agronomics.
“Precision agriculture and variable rate technologies do pay, but they need to be designed around a sound agronomic strategy and with a vision that matches (the client’s),” he said.
