In the Oct. 7 edition ofThe Western Producer, some statements made by John Hamon of Gravelbourg were not accurate. He stated that polls taken Sept. 21 showed that 75 percent of Canadians were against long gun registration.
The Ipsos Reid poll taken Sept. 27 to Oct. 4 finds the support to keep the registration in all of Canada is 66 percent with only 33 percent against.
All provinces support it. Alberta is the only place where the majority oppose it, 53 percent to 47 percent support.
Certainly minor changes need to be made, however Mr. Harper opposes these changes.
Mr. Hamon also condemns our Canadian flag that was created 40 years ago. Canadians are very proud of the maple leaf flag, which is evident at the Olympics and all other events.
Mr. Hamon and Mr. Harper are using the same tactics, hoping to keep the population from seeing the large deficit, the falling economy, the rise in unemployment, the large spending wastes of the government and of course the neglect of agriculture.
