Regarding the Nov. 4 letter by Duane Filson, once again we see the Liberals trying to downplay the Liberal gun law and twist it into a Conservative problem by suggesting that it is the Conservatives that keep the issue alive.

I have already had one of my guns confiscated without compensation under this draconian legislation, not because of carelessness or storage issues, as you suggest, but because the barrel was 3/10ths of an inch too short. The Liberals and NDP have indicated they want all handguns confiscated in spite of the rhetoric they keep spouting about how registration does not mean confiscation.

I have been contacted by several farmers who have firearms strictly for pest control and who let their licence expire and are now facing criminal charges, which will result in the loss of their firearms for a minimum of five years and also will result in their inability to get a passport, all because they did nothing.
So you see, Mr. Filson, this issue is going to be around until it gets fixed, something it sadly appears Liberals are not prepared to do.…
