G3 Canada Ltd. is adding another new elevator to its grain origination network in Western Canada.
The company announced Dec. 13 that it will build a new elevator near Morinville, Alta.
In a news release, G3 Canada said the Morinville elevator will be designed for speed and efficiency.
When completed, it will be able to load 150-car grain trains under continuous motion on a loop track system, the company said.
The new facility will be located 2.5 kilometres west of Morinville on the north side of Highway 642.

The facility will have a capacity of 42,000 tonnes and will be serviced by Canadian National Railway.
Construction will begin shortly, subject to receiving regulatory approvals.
Construction of the new facility is expected to be complete in 2020, around the same time that G3’s new west coast export terminal — G3 Terminal Vancouver — becomes operational.
“This is part of a growing network of high-efficiency facilities that is speeding up the movement of grain in Canada and around the world,” said chief executive officer Don Chapman.
“But it all starts with the farmers, and we’re looking forward to putting our industry-leading efficiency and customer service to work to earn their business at G3 Morinville.”
Construction is already underway on new G3 elevators at Carmangay, Alta., Wetaskiwin, Alta., and Maidstone, Sask.
In the past few months, the company has also held grand openings at new elevators near Melville, Sask., and Saskatoon.
