An exhibition showcasing the dirt on soil is expected to open later this year at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum in Ottawa.
The museum is working with Nutrients for Life Foundation Canada, Fertilizer Canada and the Soil Conservation Council of Canada on the new exhibit, which will highlight the connection between soil and food security.
An opening date for the exhibition has not yet been set.
Heritage and contemporary practices for maintaining soil health will be presented while showcasing Canada’s diverse landscapes and soils.
The exhibit will teach students the main concepts of soil science and agricultural sustainability and show how soil health is directly linked to human health, as well as the ability to grow food, feed, fibre and fuel.
