In the past and present we as farmers depended on elected or appointed officials to represent the farmers’ interests.
It seems as soon as candidates get elected or appointed, they forget who they are supposed to represent and start lobbying for the interests of corporations at the expense of other farmers.
I believe in looking at the past and how so-called farmers represented their own agenda in getting good paying jobs with corporations or governments even they couldn’t make it on their own, farming under the insane farm policies of the day.

Saskatchewan Wheat Pool was the farmers’ own co-operative grain company with farmers’ own equity shares and own elevators and service centres. It did a good business and once upon a time had as much as 71 percent of the grain market share.
It took only nine directors to vote against SWP and we lost a co-operative grain company forever. It will only take eight or nine candidates to destroy the CWB forever and it will be at the mercy of the multinationals.
The CWB is the only commercial organization that speaks and represents farmers’ interests only. I hope today’s farmers in their wisdom will vote to retain the CWB for future farmers.
