Saskatchewan premier Scott Moe and retired agricultural broadcaster Jim Smalley burned the brand to officially open Canadian Western Agribition Nov. 20.
Moe said he was thrilled to be asked.
“It’s one of the coolest things I’ve had the opportunity, the honour, to be a part of. It really is,” he said after the event.
“This is a world class agricultural show focusing on, yes, the livestock industry we have here, but also the overall agricultural industry.”

Aside from a personal honour, he said it was a privilege for the government to be a part of telling the story of sustainable, ethical agriculture.
Smalley also said he was honoured and reminded the journalists in attendance of how much news there is to impart from the show.
Monday also features the judging of alpaca fleece, the Canadian National 4-H and Youth judging competition, showmanship events and the first of the purebred shows, the Texas Longhorns.
The 52nd edition of the show runs until Nov. 25.
