Agribition 2024: Winners rise to the top of the show ring

REGINA — Two days of ranch rodeo began Friday at Canadian Western Agribition.

This is an expanded format of the competition based on typical ranch jobs.

Sheep shows, the commercial cattle show, Charolais show and Angus sale fill out the day.

Land crash warning rejected

Results from Wednesday and Thursday include several purebred shows.

In the Gelbvieh event, Royal Western Gelbvieh from Alberta’s Red Deer County won the grand champion female with RWG Parkland K406 and calf at side RWG Michigan M462.

Royal Western also exhibited the grand champion bull, RWG Lock the Door L431.

Twin View Livestock at Parkbeg, Sask., and Beamish Land and Cattle won the reserve female with AWB Twin View Patsy 17M. Second in the bull class was Thackeray Land and Cattle at Weyburn, Sask., and Rosso Charolais with Ross Tip Kickstart 201K.

Fladeland Livestock from Gladmar, Sask., showed the top balancer or percentage female, Fladeland Merlot 13M. Maple Grove Gelbvieh from Narcisse, Man., had the reserve, HL Rosebud 61L.

The grand champion balancer or percentage bull came from Ledgerwood Gelbvieh of Clarkston, Washington. Fladeland Big Muddy 45M was the reserve.

Limousin winners were Payne Livestock of Lloydminster, Sask., with the grand champion female, RPY Paynes Kendal 49K ET, and Double B Cattle Co. of Unity, Sask., and Venture Livestock with reserve DBCC/VLE Monroe 11M ET.

B-Bar Rainmaker 4K from B Bar Cattle of Lucky Lake, Sask., Bohrson Marketing Services, Canadian Sires and La Rhone Limousins of South Africa was grand champion bull. RPY Paynes Coach 24M was the reserve.

The Angus shows held Thursday saw the banners spread around.

Merit Cattle Co. from Radville, Sask., showed the grand champion female Black Angus, Merit Socialite 1028J with calf at side Merit John Wayne 4063M. Swindon Ranch from Alexander, Man., showed the reserve, Seldom Rest Sandy 3031.

The champion bull was HLC CSI Elevation 100K from Hollinger Land and Cattle at Neudorf, Sask., Rafter D4 Cattle Co. and CSI Angus.

Brooking Angus Ranch of Radville, Zwt Ranches, Greenwood Cattle and Ter-ron Farms showed the reserve, Brooking Continental 3105.

In the Red Angus show, Blairs.Ag Cattle from Lanigan, Sask., and Carlos Ojea had the grand champion female, Red Blair’s Yankee 129K with calf Red Blair’s Carlos Yankee 116M.

South View Ranch from Ceylon, Sask., showed the reserve, Red SVR Ruby 170D and calf Red SVR Panorama 4M.

The top bull was Red Wilbar Hennessy 3K from Wilbar Cattle at Dundurn, Sask., and Rohrich Cutting Edge Ranch.

Reserve honours went to Red Six Mile Showman 37L from Six Mile Red Angus at Fir Mountain, Sask.
