REGINA — Purebred shows and sales are well underway at Canadian Western Agribition as many breeds began their events yesterday.
Only two sales have been held so far.
Bison were the first to sell Tuesday.

The top selling lot was the grand champion bull, a two-year-old from Shale Creek Bison at Russell, Man., purchased by Foothills Ranch of Roseisle, Man., for $10,500.
The high selling female was a two-year-old bred heifer from Prairieland Bison at Hodgeville, Sask., which sold to Keith Schutz from Neudorf, Sask., for $6,500.
Overall, the two-year-old bulls averaged $7,667 while the yearling bulls averaged $5,333.
Two-year-old bred heifers averaged $5,583 and pens of two averaged $5,500.
Open heifers averaged $3,325 on their own and $3,240 in pens of two.
The national Speckle Park sale is the only other sale completed as of Thursday morning. Sixteen lots averaged just shy of $8,600 with many buyers from Eastern Canada.
The high-seller was the first in the ring, consigned by KFC Farms of Abbotsford, B.C. The heifer sold for $16,000 to Adelia Farms of Climax, Sask.
In the show ring, the grand champion national Texas Longhorn female was Jungle Orchid BCB from Cody Robbins at Delisle, Sask. Robbins also exhibited the reserve, L2H Like a Dove.
Double D Arena from Outlook, Sask., showed the grand champion bull, L2H Tequila Time, and Kot Livestock from Coronach, Sask., showed the reserve, KL Smokin Eddy 332.
The grand champion steer, Busta Rhymes, came from D S Cattle Co. of Carman, Man., and the reserve was Shorty Olson from Double D Arena.
Wednesday included the Simmental, Speckle Park, Gelbvieh and Maine-Anjou shows.
Thursday features Black and Red Angus shows, the Limousin show and Shorthorn, Maine-Anjou and Hereford sales.
