Saskatchewan agri-food exports hit another high in 2022, posting a third consecutive record.

Total value was $18.4 billion, with canola oil, non-durum wheat, canola seed, lentils, durum and dry peas leading the way.

The top buyers were the United States, China, Japan, Mexico and Algeria.

Exports in 2021 were worth $17.5 billion.

The province has a goal of $20 billion worth of agri-food exports by 2030. It also has a target of increasing agricultural value-added revenue to $10 billion and said increasing canola oil and meal exports will help.

Ontario is the top exporting province with $23.8 billion last year.

More generally, Saskatchewan merchandise exports were valued at more than $52 billion last year, up 41.7 percent from 2021.

“It is clear that Saskatchewan has what the world needs and these impressive numbers demonstrate that,” said trade and export development minister Jeremy Harrison.

Saskatchewan continues to open trade offices around the world. Berlin is the latest.
