4-H members’ activities continued despite COVID-19, and achievement days went virtual, but normal is back
BASHAW, Alta. — After two years of 4-H achievement days modified by COVID-19, the Camrose District’s Interclub Show and Sale is “back to normal,” said beef committee member Christy Van De Voorde.
“It feels great,” said Van De Voorde, leader of the Bashaw 4-H Beef Club and mother of members at the show.
“The kids had a fire and a dance and are back to some normalcy,” she said.
Five 4-H clubs from Armena, Bashaw, Camrose, New Norway and Rosalind attended the two-day show and sale, held at the Bashaw Agricultural Grounds. Members showed 14 females and 50 steers at the show.
“These two days are what it’s all about. I am very proud of the kids and how far they have come,” she said.
Van De Voorde said friends made through 4-H last forever, noting she still has good friends she made in 4-H 30 years earlier.
“They’re my friends forever and its been 30 years.”
