Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $68.89 March. 12. The March 5 price was unavailable.
U.S. hogs averaged $84.40 on a carcass basis March 12, up from $81.04 March 5.
The U.S. pork cutout was $98.30 per hundredweight March 12, up from $95.14 March 5.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to March 13 was 2.583 million, down from 2.563 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.639 last year at the same time.
In Canada, the March 13 Signature Four price was C$193.49 per 100 kilograms, up from $193.17.

Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $3.50-$3.80 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls and heifers on light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $4.80-$5 for prime bulls and $4.40-$4.80 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$4 per lb. hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation and export costs.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 546 sheep and lambs and 116 goats sold March 8.
Light lambs sold steady. Heavy lambs sold steady. Sheep were slightly easier. Goats sold strong.
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 968 sheep and 97 goats sold March 8.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $367-$445 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $380-$465, 70-85 lb. were $337-$390, 86-105 lb. were $290-$360 and 106 lb. and heavier were $250-$287. Wool rams were $150-$270 per cwt. Cull ewes were $137-$265.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $360-$435 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $350-$410, 70-85 lb. were $320-$375, 86-105 lb. were $280-$360 and 106 lb. and heavier were $230-$270. Hair rams were $150-$210 per cwt. Cull ewes were $158-$250.
