Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $49.19 Jan. 29, but wasn’t available Jan. 22.
U.S. hogs averaged $56.78 on a carcass basis Jan. 29, up from $55.46 Jan. 22.
The U.S. pork cutout was $85.36 per hundredweight Jan. 29, up from $82.83 Jan. 22.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Jan. 30 was 2.658 million, down from 2.738 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.696 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Jan. 30 Signature Four price was C$156.14 per 100 kilograms, up from $152.94.

Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $3.50 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls and heifers on light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $5 for prime bulls and $4.80 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$4 per lb. hog hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation and export costs.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 689 sheep and lambs and six goats sold Jan. 25. Sheep sold under pressure while lambs sold at fully steady prices. There were too few goats to call the market.
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 951 sheep and 277 goats sold Jan. 25.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $330-$390 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $380-$460, 70-85 lb. were $360-$406, 86-105 lb. were $300-$382 and 106 lb. and heavier were $260-$305. Wool rams were $190-$265 per cwt. Cull ewes were $200-$280.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $300-$365 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $325-$420, 70-85 lb. were $340-$385, 86-105 lb. were $300-$355 and 106 lb. and heavier were $260-$290. Hair rams were $215-$250 per cwt. Cull ewes were $230-$300.
