Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was US$35.67 per hundredweight Dec. 27, up from $35.47 Dec. 21.
U.S. hogs averaged $44.82 on a carcass basis Dec. 27, up from $44.07 Dec. 21.
The U.S. pork cutout was $70.44 per cwt. Dec. 27, down from $71.32 Dec. 21.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Dec. 21 was 2.737 million, up from 2.612 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.477 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Dec. 15 Signature Five price was C$123.30 per 100 kilograms, down from $124.54 the previous week.

Bison
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range sold at prices from C$5.60-$5.80 per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.40 or more with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.
Grade A heifers sold up to C$5.40-$5.60. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.20.
Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 1,727 sheep and lambs and 269 goats sold Dec. 17. Good new crop light lambs traded at a premium. Under-finished light lambs sold steady. Heavy lambs sold on good demand with prices $20-$25 per cwt. higher. Sheep and good goats were steady.
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,344 sheep and 413 goats sold Dec. 17.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $135-$170 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $160-$180, 70-85 lb. were $145-$185, 86-105 lb. were $136-$170 and 106 lb. and heavier were $123-$149.
Wool rams were $105-$115 per cwt. Cull ewes were $105-$129.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $110-$140 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $150-$174, 70-85 lb. were $140-$174, 86-105 lb. were $130-$150 and 106 lb. and heavier were $120-$140.
Hair rams were $111-$130 per cwt. Cull ewes were $105-$130.
