Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was US$46.03 per hundredweight May 4, up from $45.06 April 27.
U.S. hogs averaged $59.05 on a carcass basis May 4, up from $58.22 April 27.
The U.S. pork cutout was $69.29 per cwt. May 4, up from $68.61 April 27.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to May 5 was 2.332 million, up from 2.363 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.268 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the May 5 Signature Five price was C$142.65 per 100 kilograms, up from $138.90 the previous week. On a per hundredweight basis, the price was $64.71, up from $63.

Bison
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range sold at prices up to C$6 per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.60 or more with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.
Grade A heifers sold up to C$6. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.40.
Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 619 sheep and lambs and 24 goats sold April 30. All lambs sold much higher, on a light offering. Good lean sheep sold steady with thicker, heavy types under pressure at prices $5-10 cwt lower. Goats held steady.
