Hogs down
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was US$35.08 per cwt. April 6, down from $39.06 March 30.
U.S. hogs averaged $45.27 on a carcass basis April 6, down from $48.49 March 30.
The U.S. pork cutout was $66.69 per cwt. April 6, down from $70.62 March 30.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to April 7 was 2.335 million, down from 2.391 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.318 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the April 7 Signature Five price was C$121.54 per 100 kilograms, down from $130.85 the previous week. On a per hundredweight basis, the price was $55.13, down from $59.35.

Bison up
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range sold at prices up to C$6 per pound hot hanging weight.
U.S. buyers are offering US$4.60 or more with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.
Grade A heifers sold up to C$6. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.40.
Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 568 sheep and lambs and 48 goats sold April 2. All sheep, lambs and goats sold slightly higher than last week.
