La Nina dryness might be welcome

Initial payments for wheat will rise by $5 to $44.65 per tonne depending on grade, class and protein, the Canadian Wheat Board announced May 28.

The increase is effective June 3.

The largest increases affect high protein wheat.

For example, No. 1 CWRS 15.5 percent protein increases by $44.65 per tonne to $256.25 at port.

No. 1 CWRS 12.5 percent increases $10 per tonne to $188 at port.

No. 1 CWRS 11 percent rises $5 per tonne to $171 at port.

Payments on grain already delivered will be deposited June 15. Cheques will arrive in the mail beginning June 24.
