An Australian company is exporting its seeding technology to Canada.Simplicity, based in the state of Queensland, plans to release two of its seeding units, with capacities of 370 and 480 bushels, at the Western Canada Farm Progress Show in Regina June 16-18.The company has a Saskatchewan connection. It distributes Seedmaster planting tools in Australia.“We’ve been successful competitors for Canadian products in Australia. Flexi-Coil, Morris, Bourgault are in our market at home and Australian farmers have seen the benefits of our machinery and we think Canadian farmers will see it too,” said Mark Simpson of Simplicity. In Australia, Simplicity offers seven chassis and steering system configurations. When combined with dry and wet bins and tanks ,there are 43 optional setups available.Four wheel carts have two castor axles at the front, making backing and tight turns easier. The larger carts, such as those that will be in Regina, are mounted to the chassis with a king pin, allowing for some movement during turns. These units steer through turns, trailing the drill, but are more awkward for backing than castor setups.Simpson said the seed cart also has the ability to quickly revert to older technology.Producers are able to add a fully variable rate drive to the seed and product metering system. The company’s linear actuator system takes over the control from the fixed adjustment, screw-type setting tool. But should any part of that technology fail, the Simplicity cart can revert to its manual seeding rate adjustments.“That is very popular for buyers as it means should their technology let them down at any point they can keep seeding while waiting for support for their electronics,” said Simpson. The Simplicity machines use incoming air for the fans to cool the oil that drives them.“It also dries and warms the air,” he said. The optional eight inch loading auger has top and bottom controls, making loading termination and clearing possible from the ground or the tank top.If liquid is a fertilizer of choice, the steerable chassis has an optional 450 litre stainless steel tank that replaces a dry tank.Up to three large dry tanks and a single small grains or granular inoculant tank are available. For more information see the company’s website at www.simplicityaus.com.au or visit them at the Western Canada Farm Progress Show.
