Winning horses at Agribition

* Two Percheron horses topped this year’s Canadian Western Agribition draft horse show. Vintage King’s Rex, exhibited by Spade Creek Percherons and Colleen Patterson of Dawson Creek, B.C., took home ribbons for junior and grand champion in its breed class, and then beat out the other breeds for the supreme champion stallion title.Simpsons Edie, exhibited by David Bailey of Calgary, was the supreme champion mare after winning its breed class.

  • Other Percheron winners were: Rose Hill Oki, junior champion filly, of Rosehill Percherons and Nicole Ruzicka of Viking, Alta., and Kerwin’s Socrates, grand champion gelding, exhibited by Brown’s Percherons of Lenore, Man.

    Charges laid after cattle theft

    Saskatchewan RCMP lay two charges against a man after six cattle went missing.

  • In the Belgian classes, the top mare was Misters Frantastic, owned by Flatlands Belgians of Kronau, Sask., while the grand champion stallion was Stoney Lake Erhlick at Creek Side Belgians of Birtle, Man.
  • Rocky Bar Ranch and Traci denBrok from Esterhazy, Sask. showed the junior champion filly, Bar RB Suri. Prins View Flash from Prins View Belgians of Fort Saskatchewan, Alta., was the grand champion gelding.
  • Banga’s Crystal Doll, owned by Banga’s Clydesdales at Canora, Sask., repeated as grand champion Clydesdale mare. The grand champion stallion was Riverside Sir Crown Royal, from Riverside Clydesdales at Fawcett, Alta.
  • Neil Campbell from Wynyard, Sask., showed the junior champion filly. Donegal Jasmine, and Aulie Farms of Rouleau, Sask., showed Jack, the grand champion gelding.
  • In the hitch classes, the Rocky Bar Ranch drove to the six-horse championship, while Creek Side Belgians won the four-horse title. Each entry also won a unicorn hitch class.
  • Prins View Belgians and Rocky Bar each won a light draft team class, while Creek Side Belgians and Spade Creek Percherons won the heavy team classes.
  • Linda Banga drove a team of Aulie Farms Clydesdales to the ladies’ championship.
  • The junior team driver champions were Kacee Gee from Morsky Roselea Belgians at Virden, Man., in the age eight to 14 class and an entry from Rosehill Percherons in the age 15 to 18 class.
  • Cassidy Gardiner drove Fran-Way Marissa, a Belgian exhibited by Woodville Ranch at Kola, Man., to the two-wheel cart title for competitors aged eight to 14.
  • Rae-Ann Lane from Creek Side Belgians won in the 15- to 18-year-old age category.
  • The ladies’ and men’s cart titles went to entries from Aulie Farms, and Rocky Bar and Lyle Walsh of Yorkton, Sask., respectively.
