Keely Mooney believes in miracles.
A recent chain of events gives the 14-year-old Warman, Sask., resident pause to wonder that maybe Isis, the family cat, does have nine lives.
Isis disappeared during the weekend of June 12-13.
“Actually, she ran out the door one night to tell you the truth and then the next day we went, ‘Oh where’s Isis,’ and we couldn’t find her. We thought maybe somebody picked her up. We set up posters everywhere but we never got any response,” said Mooney.

Somehow, the cat made its way to Manitoba. The family thinks it got into a stock trailer that was in town for the annual rodeo.
However the cat got there, Mooney said a Manitoba man found Isis starving on his farm. After no one claimed the cat, the farmer gave it to his sister, who was visiting from, coincidentally enough, Warman. The sister wanted to remain anonymous.
“So they took her in, took care of her because she was very sickly skinny – like almost dead,” said Mooney. “So they took her to the vet and our name popped up on the (micro)chip.”
Isis had a microchip implant with data on ownership.
During the first week of August, the Mooney’s received a phone call from the Warman Veterinary Clinic informing them that Isis was there.
“I think it was pretty much of a miracle because we’ve been missing her for a very long time,” said Mooney.
“I’m just really happy to have her back and quite a bit of relief. I’m definitely not letting her outside the house. Like not ever.”
