The City of Yorkton says its fire department continues to investigate the cause of the Oct. 24 explosion and fire at Louis Dreyfus Commodities.

Fire chief Trevor Morrissey said the focus is on safety of the investigative unit.

“Right now we need to wait until the immediate structural safety issues are addressed so we can complete our investigation,” he said in a statement. “We are committed to a comprehensive investigation which will provide a complete fact based report to Louis Dreyfus Commodities.”

A preliminary report is expected by mid-November.

One employee suffered minor injuries during the incident. The plant remains closed.
