The Canadian Grain Commission has issued a notice to Canadian flax producers, reminding them that the registration for flaxseed variety CDC Valour will be cancelled at the beginning of the 2015-16 crop year.

Effective Aug. 1, 2015, deliveries of CDC Valour will only be eligible for grading as No. 3 Canada flax.

Producers with commercial supplies of CDC Valour must market their flax before that date to avoid grade discounts.

As well, registration of three other flax varieties — CDC Arras, Flanders and Somme — will be cancelled effective Aug. 1, 2017.

Commercial deliveries of those three varieties that occur after July 31, 2017 will also downgraded to No. 3 Canada.

Varieties of flaxseed registered for production in Western Canada can be viewed on-line at www.grainscanada.gc.ca..
