WASHINGTON, Jan 10 (Reuters) – Private exporters reported the sale of 216,000 tonnes of U.S. soybeans to China for the 2014/15 marketing year, the U.S. Agriculture Department said on Friday.
The sale was the fourth to China – the world’s largest soybean importer – announced by USDA this week. The 2014/15 marketing year for soybeans starts on Sept. 1.
Exporters also reported sales of 180,000 tonnes of corn to unknown destinations during the 2013/14 marketing year, which started on Sept. 1.
And USDA said exporters also sold a total of 125,700 tonnes of wheat to Venezuela, including 46,250 tonnes of hard red winter and 79,450 tonnes of hard red spring wheat, for delivery during 2013/14, which for wheat started on June 1.
By law, exporters must report promptly the sale of 100,000 tonnes or more of a commodity to the same destination in one day. Sales of smaller amounts are reported on a weekly basis.
