Tornadoes touch down in Sask. yesterday

The warnings of severe weather issued early Monday resulted in storms sweeping through southern areas between mid afternoon and early evening.

Confirmed tornadoes were seen near Gray and Kronau, southeast of Regina and two west and southwest of Yorkton.

Probable tornadoes were spotted near Hague and Rosthern, north of Saskatoon, and north of Humboldt.

There were reports of hail ranging from quarter to golf ball size in an area from Hearne, near Avonlea, through the Rouleau, Milestone, Ituna and Pangman areas.

Southey received 50 millimetres of rain, and nearby Cupar saw 55 mm.

The storm moved into Manitoba, where wind gusted more than 80 km-h.
