Strong winds are making unsafe conditions near many Saskatchewan shorelines, says the province’s Water Security Agency.

The agency said spring runoff is largely in recession, but many lakes are still covered in large sheets of ice that are moving in the wind gusts.

The winds for today and tomorrow are expected to gust in the 50 to 70 km-h range.

Property damage is possible, and the public is asked to avoid going near the ice sheets.

The agency continues to monitor situations around the province.
