Ninety-eight percent of the Saskatchewan crop is in the ground, according to the provincial government’s weekly crop report for the week ending June 17.

Significant rainfall last week and this week is hampering spraying operations. Many regions reported between 50 and 100 millimetres and the storms of June 19 will add to those totals.

The rain has caused localized flooding and pushed surplus topsoil moisture to 10 percent on hay and pasture and 18 percent on crop land. Most regions report topsoil moisture is adequate on about 80 percent of land.

Half to two-thirds of crops are considered at normal development for this time of year.
