Saskatchewan will spend the bulk of its Growing Forward 2 money over the next five years on innovation, research and technology transfer.

The province announced today that, with Ottawa’s contributions, a total of $388 million will be spent, up $25 million per year compared to the previous five-year agreement.

Of that, $170 million will go toward research and innovation.

The remainder breaks down this way: $65 million for rural water infrastructure; $60 million for environment, food safety, plant and animal health; $32 million for value-added business development, and trade and market development; $25 million for farm business management and $4 million for agricultural awareness initiatives.
