An early forecast by the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority is calling for high spring runoff potential, particularly in eastern Saskatchewan.

The authority said eastern areas had surplus topsoil moisture and full water bodies heading into winter. Western regions had adequate topsoil moisture.

Above average snowfall so far will also contribute to greater runoff.

Flooding is expected even with average weather between now and runoff.

The authority will prepare more detailed forecasts in February, March and April.
