Saskatchewan has lifted its warning about high bacteria levels in flooded lakes.

Tests on water samples taken yesterday from Last Mountain, Echo, Pasqua, Katepwa, Crooked and Round lakes confirmed that E. coli levels at all public beaches had dropped to levels considered safe for swimming.

The health ministry is still advising swimmers and boaters to be careful of physical hazards such as debris in the lakes.

The receding flood water and warmer weather have helped break down bacteria in the water.

Tim Macaulay, director of environmental health, said all testing results showed levels well within acceptable limits.

However, anyone who experiences vomiting, nausea, diarrhea or stomach cramps after being in one of the lakes should consult a doctor.
