Saskatchewan farmers took advantage of dry sunny weather last week to make some seeding progress.

Province-wide, about eight percent of the crop is in the ground, behind the five-year average of 16 percent for this time of year.

The southwest is the furthest advanced at 29 percent, followed by four percent in the southeast, three percent in both the northwest and west-central regions, two percent in east-central and less than one percent in the northeast.

Topsoil moisture conditions are rated 71 percent adequate, 24 percent surplus and five percent short. On hay land and pastures, moisture is rated 75 percent adequate, 16 percent surplus and nine percent short.
