More than 1,300 disaster assistance claims from 2011 are still not closed in Saskatchewan, according to figures released by the government April 22.

The data, provided after the NDP opposition questioned the government about outstanding claims, shows a total of 1,941 claims from 2010 through 2012 were still not paid as of April 15.

They include 149 from 2010 and 453 from 2012. However, 2011 saw the largest number of claims filed at 8,667 and 1,314 are still open.

The Provincial Disaster Assistance Program paid out nearly $185 million in the last three years.
