Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corp. general manager Cam Swan has been seconded to the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program as communities move into the recovery phase after spring flooding.

Shawn Jaques will be acting general manager during Swan’s absence.

A news release issued by corrections, public safety and policing said Swan’s role at the crop insurance corporation “provides him with the understanding and insight required to make PDAP more responsive to the needs of claimants facing losses from natural disasters.”

Among those claimants are livestock producers who lost cattle during winter storms if their municipalities declared disasters.

Residents in more than 120 municipalities are now eligible for PDAP funding.

Employees from other government ministries have also been redeployed to PDAP to assist with adjusting, building inspection and other duties.
