Rising loonie weighs down canola on Thursday

The stronger Canadian dollar weighed down canola futures on Thursday and most other crops were also lower.

The loonie was trading near US82.5 cents, a two year high, during the day, up about 1.5 cents since the Bank of Canada raised interest rates on Wednesday morning.

Good harvest weather across the Prairies also weighed down canola.

The Saskatchewan crop report today said that 45 percent of the crop had been harvested, well ahead of the five-year average of 28 percent and the 10-year average of 27 percent.
