Richardson International plans to establish a research farm near a Saskatchewan community that bears the same name.

The company will announce on Wednesday an investment in Bennett Farm at Richardson, about 10 kilometres southeast of Regina.

Last September, the Rural Municipality of Edenwold granted the company a discretionary use application for the farm, subject to approvals from highways and the Water Security Agency, and a municipal road designed and built to RM standards.

Richardson has operated a 500-acre research and development farm south of Winnipeg, Kelburn Farm, since 1997. It offers field trials and is also an education and training centre, hosting Manitoba’s Agriculture in the Classroom program each fall.
